Michael and Mary Drummond, owners of Packrite LLC, opened the doors of their High Point, NC plant to the industry on Thursday, February 16, 2017. More than 356 attendees came from as nearby as across town and as far away as the Pacific Northwest. Customers, suppliers and the curious made the trip to the recently expanded plant to see this unique operation which bills itself as “A New Generation in Packaging.”

Packrite is a trade finisher for the corrugated and folding carton industries that was begun in 2008. This great independent company has a wonderful entrepreneurial spirit and uses that attitude and a broad and technologically advanced equipment mix to partner with their customers to provide a wide array of solutions from print to finishing. This open house was a celebration of their recently completed 70,000 square foot expansion of their already large facility. In addition to being a showcase of Packrite’s capabilities, the event was a showcase of their partnership with Bobst. Packrite runs 2 singleface laminators, an Expertflute 65 and a Masterfute 87. Diecutting is handled by and Expertcut 145 and a Mastercut 2.1. Folding and gluing is capably handled by a Masterfold 130 and Masterfold 170. A Kohmann 1350 window machine rounds out the machine park.

Machine demonstrations were conducted in morning and afternoon sessions with live and promotional products converted. Packrite and Bobst personnel staffed each machine to provide guests with as much information as needed on the processes and the equipment.

Presentations were made by Steve Young, President of AICC, The Independent Packaging Association; Jean-Pascal Bobst, CEO of Bobst worldwide, North Carolina’s Lieutenant Governor, Dan Forest and High Point’s Mayor Pro Tem, Christopher Williams.
